We kickstart our top 60 with another Tough Love song, in the form of Sweetest Song. It does what it says on the tin - it's a song, and it's pretty sweet. The track is rather mid in terms of Jessie's discography, and is probably one of only a handful of songs in the rate I needed to re-listen to and couldn't score accurately from memory, and it is nice! Just...skippable.

Like earlier cut Keep On Lying, Sam Dew is co-writer here, and I definitely prefer the former out of the two - I don't think Jessie quite pushes herself enough on Sweetest Song, and it lacks the overall drama and seductiveness that engulfs the Tough Love record.

@Kyle. = It all falls a bit short for me, nice enough but nothing remarkable.
@boom bazooka joe = The verses meadner a bit but I like the groove of the chorus.

We return to the debut now and the 1st part of our 2nd tie, Swan Song failed to get any 10s meaning it leaves us at #59. Vocally it's probably her strongest showing on the debut, as this allows her to really belt, but as slower moments go on the record it doesn't quite hold up to its competition....

I like that once again it's another dramatic turn from her, it definitely could be used for a good end credits scene. In a track by track interview, Jessie teared up while talking about Swan Song, saying she'll likely never reveal what it's about, and it's one of her saddest songs.

It's a banger, it's a bop! One of our earliest tastes of Jessie the legitimate bop-maker was her support of upcoming brotherly dance act Disclosure, who had remixed Running as one of their earliest releases. They subsequently worked together again on their debut album, producing Confess To Me. Taken from Disclosure's debut album Settle, a fantastic album, Jessie really feels at home with something like this. It's dirty, funky and a real departure from anything else Devotion related at that time, so finally seeing her embrace this dance-y side a few albums later was just really worth the wait.

Settle also features AlunaGeorge, London Grammar, Eliza Doolittle, Sam Smith and a Kelis sample! Just a full on great record to be honest. Jessie was always a very vocal supporter of the Disclosure boys, which I think just shows how popular she is in the industry (also highlighted by her Table Manners podcast) and how much goodwill she has out there!
